Students taking Media and Literature, a senior English elective, visited the Newseum last week. They began their morning with a class in media ethics, taught by a member of the Newseum teaching staff. The group then considered several case studies through the lens of the Society of Professional Journalists' Code of Ethics. Afterward, the class was given time to explore the Newseum on their own, which allowed them to learn more about topics like the Berlin Wall, September 11, Jon Stewart, and the Stonewall riots. The field trip was an engaging experience for all and laid the foundation for the class’s upcoming unit on modern media bias.
