Please Join Us for the Potomac Auction on Saturday, March 2, 2024
The Potomac School’s mission is to prepare students for lives of purpose, achievement, and generosity of spirit. Our school is committed to empowering our students through excellent teaching in a connected community. That is the heart of our Scholarship Auction. This year’s event – our 47th Annual Auction, with the theme Bloom! – will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024. We invite you to partner with us in support of Potomac’s mission of educational excellence!
The funds raised from the Scholarship Auctions support two important Potomac initiatives.
Student Scholarships
Our community is committed to ensuring that qualified and deserving students have the opportunity to benefit from a Potomac education, even when financial constraints might put that goal out of reach. The Scholarship Auction is the primary event that supports tuition assistance to Potomac students, providing more than 1,000 scholarships in the last five years.
Faculty Professional Development
The auction also supports professional development opportunities for Potomac’s dedicated faculty. Funds raised through this event enable our inspiring teachers to benefit from opportunities to expand their knowledge and explore creative and innovative teaching strategies.
Fund a Scholar
One very special component of our Scholarship Auction is the Fund a Scholar initiative. While the silent and live auctions enable us to bid on exciting items, Fund a Scholar presents the unique and selfless opportunity to raise our paddles to make an outright donation in support of student scholarships and faculty professional development. We cannot overemphasize Fund a Scholar’s importance: Last year, this effort generated nearly 70% of the auction’s net revenue. Paddles were raised at levels ranging from $50 to $40,000, and this generosity benefited our community in myriad ways. Fund a Scholar gifts enabled our teachers to attend conferences and workshops that enrich the classroom experience. They funded defensive driving courses for our bus drivers. They covered partial and full need-based scholarships for students, as well as ancillary costs outside of tuition. The success of Fund a Scholar is a true reflection of the Potomac community’s generosity of spirit.
strength & vibrancy
The Scholarship Auction reflects the strength and vibrancy of the Potomac School community. Thanks to all who have volunteered, donated, placed a bid, attended, and raised a paddle to support student scholarships and faculty professional development.
