Middle School Learning Support
Language Arts and Math Specialists provide opportunities for small group differentiation and support by partnering with each classroom teacher several times per week. They work with classroom teachers to determine the need for small, flexible groups to help differentiate instruction and best meet the needs of students. These supports can include content-related support, in addition to executive functioning and study skills support.
If a student requires further support, the Middle School Student Support Team (MSST) will meet to discuss how to accommodate the child’s needs throughout the year.
Potomac does provide a limited number of accommodations for students with documented learning differences. Students seeking accommodations are required to provide a recent psycho-educational or neuropsychological report for both school-based and standardized testing accommodations. Learning specialists will review the assessments and develop an appropriate learning plan that includes accommodations within the general curricular setting.
