Writer Ret Talbot Visits the Upper School
On Monday and Tuesday of this week, Ret Talbot, “an award-winning independent journalist and writer who covers ocean issues and fisheries at the intersection of science and sustainability,” visited Potomac. In addition to talking with students in the Writing Fiction and Biodiversity and Conservation classes, Mr. Talbot spoke with our ninth grade biology students on the role of indigenous knowledge in published, peer-reviewed science and the importance of including data in scientific writing. He also hosted two lunchtime conversations, one focused on being a journalist and one on sustainability. The students enjoyed connecting with him and found his presentations both engaging and informative.
