This past weekend, three US Robotics teams traveled to Worcester, MA, to compete at The Wave at WPI, a VEX Robotics Competition Signature Event at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Signature Events are world-class events that replicate a world-championship experience outside of the Robotics World Championships. For many of our teams, this was their first experience competing at such a high level.
Our three teams – 12X (sophomores Erim Ozcan, Ben Muhlendorf, Andrew Mu, Benjamin Levy), 12H (seniors Ben Bartlett, Claire Coker, Rohan Iye, and sophomore Elaina Song), and 12E (freshmen Nikhil Bhargava, Matthew Gardner, Quentin Toner, Tony Diller, Samuel Rubin, Charlie Holtman) – competed with some of the best teams in the nation over the weekend. While 12E and 12X had rough starts and tough matches, both finished strong with multiple wins. 12H was incredibly successful, going 7-3 in their matches and being ranked 20th out of 80 teams. 12H also advanced to the round of 16, where they suffered an unfortunate loss but still had a great showing against top-caliber teams from around the country.
