Last Thursday, our Active Minds Club led by seniors Max Revis, Ella Adamec, and Will Hart sponsored an assembly and lunchtime conversation featuring guest speaker Abraham Sculley. During his freshman year, Abraham fell into a deep depression. At the time, he did not know it was depression due to growing up in a Jamaican-American household where mental health and seeking help were not discussed. After a concerned friend reached out, Abraham sought support from the counseling services on his college campus. Abraham decided to take a 3-month break, which helped him return to school with a new outlook. Abraham graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology and is now a mental health advocate speaking around the country to raise awareness and break down the stigma.
